National Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week, September 13–19, 2026, is a time to recognize the dedicated professionals who help make independence, inclusion, and choice possible for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
At PROVAIL, we know that investing in our employees is one of the most important investments we can make. Because we value our DSPs, we’ve built a culture where people stay, grow, and make lasting relationships with the individuals they support. Their dedication is at the heart of everything we do and helps ensure that every person has the opportunity to pursue the life they choose to live.
PROVAIL’s Direct Support Professionals in Action
Home & Lifestyle
Supporting Independence at Home

For individuals receiving Supported Living services, Direct Support Professionals provide individualized support that goes far beyond daily routines.
They build trusted relationships while helping people develop life skills, make choices, navigate their communities, and maintain safe, independent homes. Whether assisting with personal care, transportation, budgeting, meal preparation, or community participation, DSPs empower people to live with greater confidence and independence.
Employment & Community Supports
Opening Doors to Meaningful Employment

Employment is about much more than earning a paycheck—it’s about purpose, belonging, and opportunity.
PROVAIL Employment Consultants work alongside participants to discover their strengths, prepare for employment, build workplace skills, and succeed in jobs that match their goals and interests.
By partnering with inclusive employers in King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties, PROVAIL team members help create workplaces where people with disabilities are valued for their contributions and can thrive alongside their coworkers.
Creating Connections That Matter

Community Inclusion Coordinators focus on building meaningful connections.
They help participants explore interests, volunteer, join clubs and affinity groups, develop friendships, and engage in activities that reflect their own goals and passions. Through personalized support, they help ensure that everyone has opportunities to participate fully in community life and experience true belonging.
Mobility & Communication
Turning Progress into Everyday Success

For many individuals receiving occupational and speech therapy through PROVAIL’s Mobility & Communication Clinic, progress doesn’t end when a therapy session does.
DSPs often partner with therapists and families to reinforce learned skills at home, in the workplace, and throughout the community. Whether supporting the use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices, encouraging mobility goals, or helping individuals practice new routines, DSPs play an important role in helping therapy translate into everyday success.
Their consistency helps individuals gain confidence and use their skills where they matter most—in real life.
This September, we invite you to join us in celebrating the incredible Direct Support Professionals who make inclusion possible every day. Their compassion, expertise, and commitment create opportunities that change lives—not only for the people they support, but for families, employers, and communities.
Help Power Inclusion
One of the best ways to celebrate and support our Direct Support Professionals is by joining us at Powering Inclusion, PROVAIL’s signature fundraising event this November. Proceeds from the event help strengthen the programs, resources, and workforce that empower people with disabilities to fulfill their life choices.
Together, we can recognize the professionals who make inclusion possible—and ensure they have the support they need to continue changing lives.
